Second review of yezdi scrambler. (8OOO+ Km experience)
Endurance? |
Hello people, this is Ruturaj Lonkar (B.E. Mechanical). So, I have completed 8000+ km on my Yezdi Scrambler and here is my update on the previous review.
I will say it straight up that it is not the most fun bike to ride in bumper to bumper traffic especially when it heats up (which is as soon as you start the bike XD).
When in traffic the first gear is too low so in turn the engine over revs, and second gear is to high so the engine under revs and the engine would stall. So you have to continuously manage it with your clutch. The clutch is quite stiff, its like a workout.
Crusing in city :
When you try to cruise in the range of 20-30 kmph the engine rpm isn't constant. It slightly decreases and increases even though you don't give any throttle input. And this is quite noticeable and discomforting. I have tried to raise this issue at the service station but they are ignorant about it. I think they do not comprehend it.
Out on highways/empty streets (especially when solo (sad but its ok)) :
The good part. Just one word "AWESOME".
The way the bike engages with the tarmac is just unbelievable. Thanks to the massive on wheel torque and those MRF zapper tires.
110-120 kmph is just very easy.
But there is a lot of air drag when at higher speeds, but it comes untold when you choose to ride a bike with a upright position.
Answering the elephant in the room :
Mileage!
It usually gives me 25 Kmpl in cities and around 28 Kmpl out on highway.
Miscellaneous issues :
1.
So if you guys remember in the last blog I had addressed an issue of a lost fender bolt.
So on one of my recent rides an incident happened, I will put it as I have deduced the situation.
So, one of the bolt fell off by loosening due to vibrations (me been unaware of the situation). I continued to ride and suddenly noticed sound from the rear end. The fender was vigorously vibrating, apparently the other bolt had snapped due to vibrations and now the assembly was only constrained on DR bolts.
I was kind of in the middle of nowhere, what I could do was only over tight the
bolts and move on.
After frequent intervals I used to stop and tight the bolts. And after a few km the assembly from DL side got detached and got stuck in the swing arm and the fender got stuck in the tire, one of the DR bolt was worn out and couldn't be dismantled.
I somehow got to a neighboring village and got a angle grinder to cut off the bolt and disassembled the fender.
I have rectified it with some solution that in my knowledge are best suited. Hopefully won't happen again.
2.
Engine heat. It heats a lot.
Conclusion:
It is a very fun bike. And I enjoy it a lot. Maybe could have been better in some sectors, but it is what it is. Flawed but mine.
Thanks for reading
Will keep you guys posted with future updates .
